You might think:

  •  It’s not going to happen to my child.
  • He attends a great school.
  • If something happens to my child, he’ll tell me about it, I am sure.
  • I don’t know anyone affected by sexual abuse.
  • That happens in other countries and other cultures.

But the statistics tell us the facts:

  • At least one in five children is suffering  from abuse.
  • Most children will never tell their parents, and will live and suffer in silence.
  • 90% percent of children will not tell anyone until adulthood.
  • In other words, one in five adults you know has suffered from abuse, but how many of them have told you?

What Kind of information can you expect in my emails

Who is Patricia Cardona?

Hi, my name is Patricia and I am a survivor of intra and extra familial child sexual abuse.

I want to express that this experience does not define who I am, however it has given me a purpose. I do not want any child or family to go through what we went through

I’m Patricia, a self-taught poet, a radio broadcaster, a speaker, an actress, and a telecommunications engineer. I collaborate with RANA (Red de Ayuda a Niños Abusados, or Aid Network for Abused Children), and I am a Steward of Children by Darkness to Light.

I am an activist as well. I am part of BraveMovement, a survivor-centered global movement fighting to end childhood sexual violence.

I have already made two trips to Brussels at the TownHall Europe and the European Parliament to speak with members of Parliament. These trips were to stress the need of having theCOM (2022) 209: Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL laying down rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse passed and to request to strengthen the law with support to victims.

My two missions in life are: to break the taboo of talking about child sexual abuse and create a society where survivors do not have to be brave enough to speak up, and children are protected.

I publicly ended my silence at a poetry event in 2019. I was surprised when some members of the audience told me that I was brave, and even more surprised when some shared their stories with me.

Since then, I have understood the power of storytelling to connect and create a safe environment for healing.

I have created L.A.B.O.R., a 5-step method that empowers parents to protect their children, expand their comfort zone, and witness how their confidence grows in this subject matter.

Additionally, I host presentations on overcoming fear, forgiving, and breaking silence as well as turning grief into purpose

Participants Share Their Own Experiences about Patricia's programs and Workshops

"I never realised how broad the spectrum of child sexual abuse is until I attended the workshop facilitated by Patricia. Now I am not only aware of the signals, but I also know better what to say and what not to say when someone tells me their story."
Mariska.
"Patricia clearly addresses an issue that is still taboo. She emphasizes the importance of education and prevention in protecting children."
Celia.
"Patricia speaks drama-free. Her explanation of the topic is excellent. If you don't listen to them, there are a lot of things you don't think about."
Elena.
"Patricia takes us through practical steps to prevent child sexual abuse. She is able to create a safe space where we get to talk openly and ask specific questions. Patricia conveys the information with clarity and with practical examples."
Katerina.

According to estimates, one-third of child abuse victims never disclose the abuse to anybody.
